“Food Villa Market Project” is located at Ratchapruek Road which is the expansion area of Bangkok. The road builds for the link between Bangkok’s Central Business District and living zone. Food Villa Market serves the need of local community with the combination of marketplace and bazaar. Normally, market in Thailand will be dark, muddy & wet walkway, and improper ventilation. Vision of the owner of the project is to build Food Villa Market to be the new standard of marketplace in Thailand. Ultimate land area of the project is approximately 25,000 sq.m. with 4 main building areas which are Marketplace of 4,000 sq.m. for 400 stalls, 2-storey for restaurant and life styles shops, 24 hour supermarket and Starbucks Drive Thru, and Pet & Plants zone.
The project starts in 2013 and the Marketplace is now ready to serve community on early 2015. Design concept of the project was inspired by the owner with the concept of “Food Villa for our community” to get acquainted with the neighborhoods in public. Thus, position of the design needs to be in the middle of modern department store and Thai’s primitive market.
The architect harmonizes the design of barns and farmhouses form merging each unit together in an order. Wide flange steel is the main structure of Marketplace. Metal Sheet is another main facade material the architect designed to be a translucent face to let the natural light go through and glow inside out at night. Air ventilation is one of the vital issues for marketplace, the ventilation gap is set in two layers, at the top of gable roof itself and between the split levels of each roof as appears in the elevation.
The ultimate ambience of Food Villa can lay in 3 pillars which are clean, relay, and being a part of the community. Mood n’ tone inside shops are cozy style full by artificial wood, top with black mosaic, and let shop owners do the rest in order to let the disarrangement of stuffs remain to represent the ambience of local Thai market.
