STIPFOLD as Architects

Considering the site and surroundings, tucked away from them city, in the outskirts of Tbilisi, the main focus of the design was to avoid building's resemblance to typical Tbilisian residential blocks to the fullest extent. Therefore, a very particular, sloped site and natural environment was taken into consideration during the design phase, to avoid a displeasing transition from the green surroundings into a dull foyer. In other words, the aim was to create a transition space between the building and nature, which would provide apartments with additional sunlight and ventilation.

As per architectural regulations and guidelines, the building was designed in a strictly minimalist fashion, where straight and even masses create a monotonous rhythm. Simple shapes, coupled with natural finishing materials result in a tight bond with the environment. Folding panels of the balconies allow residents to adapt the terrace space to their needs depending on the time of the year.
