Building in the desert is an encounter of man with nature … with the power of the elements in their raw form.
Gathering in Arab culture is a significant event. The traditional housing, the tent, has historically provided those spaces with seating areas over carpets and pillows: the so-called “Majlis”.
The four elements Villa displays four different seating areas where to gather together guests, family and friends for long conversations, shisha smoking and drinking tea. Each area provides an encounter with one of the 4 elements of nature:
Air: Gathering around a campfire under the starry night sky of the desert
Earth: The primitive cave, as a hidden underground shelter of plants and stillness
FIRE: A privileged position from which to enjoy the essence of fire represented by the observation of sunsets in the desert
WATER: An oasis of Arab baths and pools as a traditional cultural ritual
