Also, the project is nominated for German Design Award 2018 in the Excellent Communications Design competition, Interior Architecture category.
The design challenge for the project was twofold, one: proposing a new, remarkable and unified interior design concept considering different patient profiles for the executive floors of an influential hospital in the country and second: to achieve it in the hospital’s existing building by renovation.
Güven Hospital, Ankara, Turkey, has 40 years old history in the healthcare industry. Thus, the client both wants to protect its powerful image and enhance it with the possibilities of a new interior design approach. Though, the floors that was renovated had different patient profiles. 3rd floor is VIP floor for influential people from variety of sectors while 4th floor is for women’s health and gynecology. For VIP floor, client’s wish was to create a prestigious environment while fresh and lively environment for 4th floor yet still creating a design language among the floors. Different design programs while unifying the interior design of the floors was a challenge. The second challenge was related making a renovation project. The main consideration was finding the most effective solution adapting the existing building plan schemes built 40 years ago for today’s needs. In addition, the renovation of the old HVAC systems for the well-being of the patient without decreasing the space quality, using the existing medical equipment in harmony with interior design because of the budget restrictions was important tasks for the project.
