Nestled within Kahului Airport (OGG), Maui, the Hawaiian Airlines Premier Lounge is a beautifully reimagined 1,236 square-foot oasis designed to offer Premier Club members a refined and comfortable retreat. AHL, alongside Gensler, thoughtfully designed the space to blend modern amenities—including a VIP Flex Room seamlessly, upgraded beverage and snack stations, and a variety of seating options—with vibrant elements that celebrate Hawai‘i’s rich cultural heritage. Drawing inspiration from Maui, the design features a neutral color palette accented by the island’s stunning natural hues, complemented by local artwork and branding elements that immerse guests in the spirit of Hawai‘i.
The lounge was thoughtfully designed with windows and flexible layouts to transform the existing space into a bright, open, and welcoming environment for travelers. Creative design strategies seamlessly integrated natural light to enhance the lounge’s aesthetic and functionality, cultivating a sense of openness that reflects Hawaiʻi’s warmth and hospitality.
Throughout the process, AHL collaborated closely with Hawaiian Airlines and a diverse group of stakeholders, ensuring that every design decision reflected the airline’s brand identity and commitment to hospitality. The result is a space that not only elevates the travel experience but also embodies Hawaiian Airlines’ dedication to honoring Hawai‘i’s culture and welcoming travelers with the warmth of the islands.
