Home for Autistic adults in Paris

AIR Architectures as Architects

PROGRAM: The program is a home for adults with autism in order to gain autonomy for social integration. The structure is managed by the Association ARIA (Association for the Rehabilitation and Integration of Autistic).

The building consists of 7 units adapted to local autism and collective life (kitchen, dining room, living room, two bathrooms activities and local services). The project is organized in the spirit of a great home life promoting participatory acts daily care, restoration and recreation. During the day various activities are offered: Workshops of expression and learning, music, bakery, laundry, horticulture ...

ARCHITECTURE: The initial program proposed to make a building that would one R occupied the whole plot. We proposed instead to raise as high as possible on the gable of the building adjacent to identify a small garden on half the plot. The geometry of the whole emerges by the intersection of two frames fragmented: the ancient agricultural field at the rear of the plot, and that created by Haussmann superimposed drawing of St. Louis Braille.

The architecture uses the idea of a skin that is opened to wrap the outer court and reveal the spaces of days on the ground floor and first floor. The facade contains the molding rigorous rue Louis Braille, while the interior is animated by the color of the front setback.

CONSTRUCTIVE SYSTEM: Reinforced concrete frame with exterior insulation plaster, metal siding on the ground floor and R+1

MATERIALS AND ENERGY PERFORMANCE: Exterior insulation, heat pump air / water for underfloor heating. Aluminum joinery, ventilation flow HygroB simple. Consumption: 80kwH/m2 year
