Innovation and Industrial Design Center situated in the heart of Moscow. The object has passed state examination and is currently under construction.
Black metal ingot, which transforms under the influence of fusion temperature, baring its internal structure, forms the basis of the concept of the building. Rectangular in plan it is designed as a single volume, a monolith with complex internal structure and plain exterior. Flat skylights above the outdoor terrace are reminiscent of steel plant blast furnaces. A display of industrial facilities will be situated on podiums below them. In this project we combined industrial style and modern technological solutions. The Center is divided vertically in accordance with functionality and the hierarchy. The Chief Engineer and the President of the Center will occupy the third floor (administrative and teaching staff area), designers will have specially equipped space on the mezzanine floor, and engineers will be accommodated in the large hall on the ground floor. Moreover, the center will also provide a venue for the general sessions, lectures and workshops. A separate wing will house Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)-based prototyping area Fab Lab.
