A Clinic and one-day medical care, located on the ground floor and mezzanineof a multistoried (11 levels)mixed-use building. The building was erected in the 1960’s of XX century and is located in the center of the Polish capital of Warsaw. Medical laboratory, examination rooms, one-day medical care unit with operating room and patient’s rooms all complete - in a programmatic way - this modern gynecological and fertility clinic.
The changing colors and patterns are influenced by the location of the clinic, in the center of the constantly changing capital, filled with the dynamic and busy flow of different people. The vibrant interior colors also contradict the usual sterile appearance of medical facilities which often intimidate patients and contribute to the feeling of uncomfortableness.
The project faced a few complications. Among them was an unreliable structure made with poor quality materials that needed to be reinforced. Another challenge was a small space for the necessary systems, including specialized HVAC systems, serving the operating room and laboratory. In order to help the situation a part of the former Cold War nuclear shelter was used to house the units.
