The exhibition project is about the Italian city and it tends to project the visitor inside this specific dimension. Also the plan is like a spiral, a snail, an interior of an ideal city. The image of the Italian architectural and engineering works presented in this Chinese exhibition is linked to the ideas of creativity and talent that our country has always represented in the world. We export ideas, culture and tradition. These are the Italian resources that the exhibition wants to represent through the works and the people who produce them. So the different exhibition sections become the key figures of the Italian Renaissance.
The exhibition is divided in two parts to allow different levels of reading: the first one is dedicated to the Silk Road Map international competition and it’s located at the entrance in a corridor where a flow of 20 thousands visitors per day is foreseen. The visitor attention is captured by the huge red high relief developing along the 14 meters wall. On the dark red of the globe, Italy and China stand out with their bright red and are connected with a green silk road, touchable symbol of the strong commercial, but also cultural relationship that linked these two countries.
The winning projects of the international competition online are exposed in the following wall, printed on backlit fabric panels. The central core of the exhibition public space is represented by a pentagonal structure representing the figures of the Italian talent. So Raffaello represents the WELL LIVING, Leonardo Da Vinci the MOVEMENT, Federico da Montefeltro the PRODUCTION, Palladio the RESTORATION, Marco Polo the SILK ROAD.
