Landgraaf have been working for some time on a multi-functional center where various agencies and functions will be housed under one roof. The existing hall will be expanded with a pavilion, a clear space on all sides to contact and view to its environment. The heart of the new KIA coincides with the central space of the existing hall. This new heart has its main entrance to the Town Hall Square, but also has a prominent entrance at the rear of the town hall with a green gateway to the City Park Lichtenberg.
The new pavilion will have its own distinct character, shape and material harmonizes nicely with the curves of the existing hall. This will be guided routes and entrances emphasized. The transparency and the flowing forms of the facade of the park-like atmosphere walking in through. The idea of knowledge as an inviting, dynamic, interactive building and the meeting of old and new forms expressive theme of architecture.
