KIDZ studio has presented a unique architectural project in collaboration with La Redoute and renowned pastry chef Christophe Adam, a master of creating hyper-realistic cakes. The main concept of the project was to blur the boundaries between reality and illusion by designing a space that deceives the eye and interacts with visitors.
Christophe Adam created cakes that resemble real furniture — poufs, cushions, and tables. These objects look like authentic furniture but are actually intricately crafted pastry creations, specifically designed for an interactive experience. The project was realized in Paris, opposite one of La Redoute’s flagship stores, and spanned two floors.
On the first floor, all the furniture was displayed, and an interactive event was held where one of the poufs was cut open to reveal its “artificial” nature. The second floor was divided into several zones, including a living room, office, and bedroom, each containing hidden fake furniture elements designed to trick visitors’ perceptions.
Special visual solutions, such as textured columns and unusual materials, enhanced the space’s fairytale-like and surreal atmosphere. This project showcases KIDZ studio’s innovative approach, where design goes beyond the ordinary, transforming the space into an immersive illusion.
