Designing for food spaces has always been a point of strength for RPM Proget, a Studio proudly rooted in Rome since 2003 and boasting a broad experience of projects combined with a high level of specialization in the multifaceted and dynamic environment of the Capital.
This allows its team to express at its best, merging the various experiences and transferring styles and values in a design approach where past and future find a fruitful crossroad.
Born in 2014, La Zanzara is a famous restaurant in Rome.
The concept of the restaurant finds inspiration from the typical Parisian bistro and is characterized by smooth atmospheres where the gastronomic offer and the quality of food go hand in hand with the multiplicity of its services. To be mentioned the presence of hostesses who welcome customers and their guests and take them to the table, entrusting them to the care of experienced waiters.
Studio RPM Proget has taken care of every detail of furnishings and its competent and attentive sign can be found in the decoration on the mirrors and in the choice of lamps, up to the spectacular grid imported from America and placed in the open space of the kitchen.
The dialogue between modernity and functionality in the expression of vintage is a complex one and has always to take into account the client’s requests: "When it comes to food spaces - says the Studio team - people in Rome or in any other city in the world are happy to choose typical locations and also young people want to be in a place featuring a strong identity where they can find tradition combined with comfort".
In this restaurant, the vintage tone of the ‘70s and the bistro inspiration are perfectly expressed by the wooden counter and its pewter top that recall the Parisian premises. The straight-cut white tiles are like those to be found in the New York subway, while the counters of Tuscan origin are enriched with Carrara marble tops and have the vintage flavour of a place softened by the touch of time, all surrounded by Thonet furnishings and tables in a true bistro style.
Other elements refer to the trendy industrial style: The exposed lighting system and the iron window frames, alongside other typical signs of the city of Rome, such as the hexagonal grits used for urban flooring.
The restaurant spaces are visible from the outside and invite passers-by to take a relaxing and tasty break from the hustle and bustle of Via Crescenzio.
Since its opening, a young clientele has rewarded La Zanzara for its casual and informal allure, combined with great food and also for the authenticity of its vintage style, capable to create a pleasant retro atmosphere without forgetting the time we live in.
