Little corner shop is an independent stand / restaurant, located in the middle of Paris. It spreads itself in and out throughout the day. It was designed and developed to answer two different demands: lunch on the spot and take away food.
The main issue with this architectural object was to integrate all regular restaurants features in a triangular cadastral plan no bigger than 20m²: kitchen, storage, restrooms, sales counter…keeping in mind the obvious site constraints and urban requirements the project needed to comply with.
Thoughts were particularly given to keeping in touch with the environment architectural codes. Wood is the main material of this project. On the façade, its color and pattern create a visual link with the strong cut stone of the Haussmanian façades nearby.
Located at the crossroads of two streets, the stand is made of a self-supporting steel structure, with three of its sides made of bay windows. Casements are either sliding or fixed, which helps create a smooth traffic in this confined space. A large rooftop, on top of the whole structure, is divided in three equal parts. It conceals motorized awnings which, once out, create a covered terrace all around the stand.
