A worker's house from 1930 which appropriates his garden. It is south of Nantes, in a fragmented patchwork fabrics of worker's houses of the early twentieth century that is home to M & C.R and their children. Since an original built in at the street, the house was gradually extended to the garden, a DIY component complex and not qualitative. It is under the guise of an extension, a desire for simplification we hear on our first meeting.
The project is based on a homogenization noticeable volumes and optimization of spaces to share (especially the kitchen and the living room). A complete redistribution of parts is also proposed. The facade fully glazed garden opens to erase the boundary between inside and outside. The thickness of the home is now important, a skylight slipped between the extension and the tile roof of the old house. A long timber volume is arranged: this is the unifying member of the house, allowing a jump across the entrance to the garden, and playing the ambiguity between wall and furniture: cross the to access the bathrooms and the kitchen, you open it to find large storage space. Also to support this intimate connection between the garden and living room wood furniture turns in front, remembering that terrace and can form a single space.
