Medal designed for The Boellaard Foundation Utrecht. The price and Medal is meant for an professional artist older than fifty years old. The design will be hand out every 2 years till 2021.
For the design and implementation Studio JKL worked with a variety of techniques. The sketches and design are created in a 3D CAD drawing. After that, the design is 3D printed, and made of bronze using the lost-wax method.
The starting point that Studio JKL was given: The patron Margaret Boellaard and winners of the prize, artists associated with Utrecht and older than 50 years. Margaret's distinctive headgear was finally the starting point for the design. With the shape of the hat, Studio JKL realized something familiar into the design of the medal. Made up of several layers, the medal refers to a sculpture and occurs like a landscape.
