Melis Logistics

JCR ARCHITECTEN as Architects

Melis Logistics new building in Duiven has a clear structure consisting of two volumes. The warehouse volume and that of the office have been put together, each with its own quality and appearance. The architecture on the outside is dark and introvert with a refined detailing. It has a steel ‘skin’ created by a trapezium profile that is horizontally oriented. The office-exterior has a smooth surface of glass and the bottom is a mirror that reflects the landscape. Due to the materials used the building reacts very changeable and responds directly to the light. This creates an interesting synergy between steel and glass, which is visible through the entire office area. The interior has an industrial and raw character with warm accents and spherical light. Materials such as concrete, steel, the acoustically recyclable ceiling and the nudity of the technique give the workplaces their own identity. The workplaces are modern and through the glass walls very open and spacious. Sustainable and circular aspects of the Melis Logistics building include the re-use of the existing ground floor, the light floors of steel and wood, the application of PV panels and innovative installation technology. Due to the accurate choice of materials and installation technology, the building is energy-neutral.
