During the celebration of 200 years of Mexican History, the Ministry of Culture of the State of Michoacán invited evO(a)_lAb to design a Cultural Pavilion at the State Fair. evO(a)_lAb worked in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of 50 people including historians, graphic designers, computer programmers and museographers. The goal of this project was the design a pavilion and set up structures that 100 display historical paintings of the Mexican Independence and Revolution. Because of the 5 week time restrain –design and construction-, we decided to set up an itinerary exhibit made of scaffolds. In this manner, we used an already-existing material as a device to divide the exhibition, display the art work and to assembly/disassembly in a quick way. We explore combining several scaffolds either vertical and horizontally. The vertical structures were 4 and 6 meters high for extremely tall images and the large horizontal venues were design to display historical timelines and individual paintings. Therefore, Six meters high Zapata and Morelos were set up at the main entrances to welcome people. Inside, the circulation space is a long corridor surrounded by zigzag galleries that display all the information regarding the Mexican Independence and Revolution.
