With the Millennium approaching, SOM architects, planners, and engineers created plans to transform under-utilized real estate near the Chicago Art Institute into a park connecting Michigan Avenue and Grant Park by way of the world’s largest “green roof.” This art-filled, 17-acre air-rights site elegantly completes Daniel Burnham’s plans for Grant Park with the world-renowned Millennium Park.
Millennium Park is essentially a vegetated roof that covers underground parking and a rail yard and is considered the world's largest rooftop garden! Hydrotech is proud to say that Monolithic Membrane 6125 is keeping those trains and cars protected. The Jay Pritzker Pavillion, designed by Frank Gehry, is the centerpiece of the park and looks out over a lush lawn that was completed with Hydrotech's Garden Roof Assembly.
