The construction of the new building (Riegler Riewe Architekten ZT-Ges.m.b.H, Graz) for The Silesian Museum in Katowice is one of the key undertakings of the Silesian Voivodeship. The plot of land for the new location was acquired in 2005 and it is situated in the once industrial downtown of the city including the site of ‘Katowice’ coal-mine .
NOVAstudio & VERTIGO architekci designed the northern part of the post-coal mine area, which is adjacent to the new buildings designed by Riegler Riewe Architekten. The project provides for the revitalization of post-mining land and all historical buildings on this area.
Land area: 3,5ha Buildings area: 6000 sqm
