This project saw the conversion of a derelict, semi-detached Victorian house in South West London into a modern home, complete with open plan living and entertaining spaces.
The client’s brief was to create a modern home, making the most of the space available and creating a clear link between inside and out. The house was dark and the client wanted to allowan abundance of natural light to flood into the property too.The result is an extended and fully remodelled house that perfectly suits the client’s needs and lifestyle.
The ground floor has been expanded with rear and side return extensions that enable a large, open plan kitchen, living and dining space. Large glass sliding, folding doors create a seamless link from the home into the landscaped garden and alfresco dining area. The front of the house has been rearranged to create a more formal living room and a study.
The first floor rooms have been reconfigured to create a master suite, complete with en-suite and dressing rooms. A second bedroom and a family bathroom complete the first floor. The stairs were reconfigured to align with the pitch of the roof. This provided sufficient headroom for the creation of a new guest bedroom in the loft space.
The finished design is modern and minimal, with lots of glass and clean lines. There are a lot of open spaces that allow light into the property and create the feeling of space the client desired.
