Pine cone - Renovation and extension of a villa
This house is a secondary family villa for two brothers who wanted to be able to each occupy their space. The existing house was therefore divided in two and completely renovated. Built around the original structure, extensions have enabled each unit to offer a kitchen, a living room, four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The location, in the heart of Cap-Ferret, was a major feature to take into account during the design. Burnt wood has established itself as the noblest and most suitable choice. In addition, drawing inspiration from the bark of existing pines allowed a mimicry of nature for a better integration of the house into its environment. The work of the eaves and the visible wooden joists, inside and out, also amplified the inside-outside relationship, multiplying the entry of light throughout the day. Rethinking this family home by separating the spaces has made it possible to offer a completely flexible way of life according to your desires and over the seasons. The house adapts to its inhabitants just as much as they can, in a way, rediscover and reinvent their daily life within it, thanks to a new structure, more fluid and more modern.
