Soon after the unification of East and West Germany, SOM was retained as Master Planners for Potsdam’s new commercial center. In order to avoid disrupting the historic core, the city directed new development to the old railyard across the river from the town center. The commercial development proposed in the master plan bridges the rail tracks, uniting the site.
