This is a plan to rebuild a private high school built on a small and narrow site in Kyoto city. While utilizing the existing school building, it was rebuilt in order over four terms. Basic plan such as survey of existing facilities, timetable, calculation of necessary rooms, etc., the plan was 2 years for planning and design, 4 years including demolition and construction supervision, for a total of 6 years.

The construction process was examined together with the school management, and the school building surrounding the five-story schoolyard was consolidated into a four-story group, with a new artificial turf ground space on the west side and a garden on the south side.

The school building is divided into three buildings by a courtyard and two passes, and between them is an urban place like a street space sandwiched between buildings where students come and go. The building silhouette is a series of sloped roofs corresponding to Kyoto surrounded by mountains. While clearing the landscape regulations, we are trying to create an atmosphere where small wooden scale buildings are gathered even though it is a large building. As for the outer wall, the vertical lattice louver by grating that makes the best use of functionality such as light shielding, and the exposed concrete wall with the texture that imaged the textile that is the identity of the school, match the cityscape of Kyoto.

We devised to contribute to the creation of the cityscape. By realizing these various ideas together with the school side, we were able to regenerate the school as a school where you can feel the tradition and liveliness of the students, which is suitable for Kyoto.
