Rashomon is a club and cocktail bar in Rome, located in the Ostiense district, one of the most renown culturally and socially lively areas in the city, where new and modern blends, between Testaccio district, Lungotevere and the traffic routes that lead to Eur.
The venue has been used, until now, only as Club, where every year the most interesting Djs and Producer of the international underground scene have been hosted. The club’s plant, with a central courtyard, it’s now developed in three different spaces, each with a specific purpose. The spaces has been divided according to the new needs: a lounge area lining the cocktail bar to the club, giving life to a new Rashomon, daily appendix that opens the doors as concept bar. The architecture of the place is clearly post-industrial, that is also because the building was part of the well-known Mira Lanza, market leader for cleansers and soaps until ‘70s, creative scraps for the design take shape from here, in fact. Cement and exposed bricks mix with a black marble bar "Via Lattea" and with handmade tile of the series of "Zig Zag" of Bisazza, used as bar and floor covering..
The cash desk and the console, at opposite ends of the bar, they are highlighted by suspended iron "cages”, coated with panels of frilled metal sheet; also made from iron the liquor store up to the cieling. The relax area, characterized by three niches divided from sliding panels made by different kinds of frilled sheets, it is edhanced by a wallpaper of Cole&Son that covers 8 mt of wall. Studiotamat designed all of the furniture, from the tray tables to the purple stools that complement the couch cushions color; the brass sconces come instead from different flea markets present in the city.
