DISSING+WEITLING architecture Wins Framework Agreement on Danmarks Nationalbank

Arne Jacobsen’s ’inheritors’, DISSING+WEITLING architecture, wins framework agreement on architectural services, technical consultancy and assistance in connection with the renovation of Danmarks Nationalbank.

The building about to be renovated is not just any Danish building, and the architectural firm tasked with the job is not just any Danish architectural firm. We are talking about the architectural masterpiece and national treasure Danmarks Nationalbank, which will be placed in the careful hands of the Danish architectural firm that has followed in the footsteps of Arne Jacobsen since 1971, namely DISSING+WEITLING architecture.

The job comprises architectural services, technical consultancy and assistance in connection with the renovation scheduled for the next 48 months.

Not only do we have specialist knowledge of Arne Jacobsen’s buildings and designs, they also represent world-known heritage to which the firm is directly associated and which constitutes an integrated part of our work today – methodically, functionally and aesthetically. We take great pride in protecting Arne Jacobsen’s iconic structure and working on the beautiful building. We recognise a special architectural and design meticulousness in the building, a consistent sense of quality indoors as well as outdoors that we look forward to working on once again, says Managing Director, Partner and Architect MAA at DISSING+WEITILING architecture.

DISSING+WEITLING architecture has great knowledge of the structure of Danmarks Nationalbank and buildings designed by Arne Jacobsen in general – including architectural classics such as SAS Royal Radisson and Texaco.

On the upcoming job Partner,Technical Manager and Architect MAA at DISSING+WEITLING architecture Kresten Kirkegaard says:

We use our specialist knowledge of the materials and construction methods used at the time, but also our understanding of Arne Jacobsen’s architectural ideas and choices. He was known to have an uncompromising attitude towards his own visions and the design of even the smallest details. His architectural pioneer work also comprised great insight into the individual materials and their capacity.

In addition to specialist expertise in the architecture of Arne Jacobsen, DISSING+WEITLING architecture’s portfolio also comprises maintenance, renovation, reconstruction and construction of other listed buildings and buildings worth preserving, including The Danish Parliament, Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek and the University of Copenhagen. Add to this international head offices, residential areas, cultural institutions, bridges and infrastructure.
