Residential Building Gyvelvej in Roskilde

Graphic shades of grey elevate homes after facade renovation

Rockpanel as Facade Cladding

A well-deserved boost in both energy efficiency and appearance. That is the result of a facade renovation on Gyvelvej in Roskilde (Denmark), and the transformation is clearly visible. What used to be an anonymous, white apartment block has now been transformed into contemporary homes with a graphic play of colours on the facade. Rectangles of varying sizes and different colour tones meet the eye, but also below the surface, the transformation leaves its mark.

Used products:
Rockpanel Colours 8 mm, RAL7016, RAL7012 and RAL7037

Cladding with many advantages

The homes have undergone an energy optimization that can be felt in both the indoor climate and the heating bill. Jesper Krog, technical director at Gaihede, who is both an architect and a consulting engineer on the project: “The old, leaky insulation has been replaced, and a nicer and more up-to-date solution has been created, which results in a considerable reduction in energy consumption. It is insulated with Redair Flex from ROCKWOOL, which provides an optimal insulation effect and an improved indoor environment. Especially now that it has become colder, a big difference can be felt in the indoor climate, but of course also in the heating bill.”

The facade has subsequently been clad with robust exterior cladding from Rockpanel. They have many benefits, says Jesper Krog: “The facade boards first and foremost ensure a really nice and extremely durable result without breaking the budget limits. The owners' association's needs are carefully matched so that the result lives up 100 percent to their wishes and requirements, and so that the residents can benefit from the upgraded framework. In short, it is a solution that brings expression, durability and economy go to a higher level.”

Renovating a residential building while in use

All parties involved, including the residents, have benefited from the efficient installation that the facade boards provide. The residents could stay in their own homes throughout the entire renovation process. “Rockpanel boards are easy to work with, and this has ensured efficiency throughout. The assembly time was only short, which meant there was less inconvenience for the building's residents,” says Martin Hagemann Mortensen, director at Viggo Pedersen & Søn A / S Byggeentreprise.

And op top of that, the residents can also enjoy the vivid play of colour on the newly renovated facades of their homes. The neighbouring buildings have been renovated before with Rockpanel boards in classic dark tones. Allan Lindboe, Business Manager at Rockpanel: “The homes on Gyvelvej are a brilliant example of how you can achieve an expression that stands out in an elegant way with Rockpanel Colours. The modern and graphic expression is created with surfaces in different shades of grey. It paves the way for an elegant facade that gives new life to the building itself, but also to the residential area.”
