GENT&MONK ARCHITECTEN BNA as Architectural Design

Residential home as a modern organization.

On a small building site located between existing houses MONKarchitects designed a family home. A design which resembles an envelope seen from plot and building borders. In the 'diagonal' part are the kitchen, playing areas, dining room and parents bedroom. The staircase forms a division. In the ‘rectangle’ are the childrens bedrooms and the living/work area.

The staircase forms the centerpiece of the house. Around here are the various rooms located. Being a family home, this layout makes it possible to keep an overview of a busy family but still give everyone the chance to retreat.

A closed front façade with primarily black masonry. The design in combination with the used brick material creates a shadow play which brings more live into the mainly black façades.

The house opens up to the garden. Adjacent to the garden is the dining room with covered terrace and large sliding door. The spacious living room covers two layers. The kitchen and the children’s bathroom are placed in the glass extensions.
