The Hub at The Galleria is a new model for co-working space. It occupies a full floor in the Galleria Financial Center. Unilev hired AMB Architects for programming, space planning, interior design, construction documentation, and construction administration.
Rather than a collection of individual and small group workstations, The Hub has seven suites, ranging from 1900 – 3400 SF. Tenants share common areas including the secure entrance lobby, large break room, private meeting booths, two conference rooms with HDTV and ClickShare technology, and restrooms. Health safety measures includes MERV-13 air filters and high-output germicidal ultraviolet lamps.
Houstonians love their city and that was the inspiration for this space. Using a variety of urban-feeling finishes, such as brick, concrete, and wood, our team worked in tandem with the building owners and leasing agents to create a one-of-a-kind concept. Custom artwork includes a Be Someone mural on metal panels, a neon-look LED Houston sign, as well as other graphics that nod to many insta worthy areas around town.
Challenges/solutions:
- The owner wanted a more comprehensive view of the interior layout prior to design approval. AMB produced a virtual reality walk-through of the entire space.
- In the crowded field of co-working spaces, the owner sought to further differentiate The Hub. AMB presented several rounds of interior finish options and custom details, such an LED sign of the Houston skyline and a mural of the Be Someone graffiti bridge.
- To maximize usability of the lobby and provide additional flexibility, AMB included powered furnishings.
• Anticipating tenants would want high visibility, each suite has sliding glass office fronts. AMB also designed a marquis signage display for the main entrance into the Galleria Financial Center.
