The attractive tower blocks in Ullerød are the result of a collaboration between Henning Larsen Architects and NCC on providing inexpensive quality housing.
The built-up area consists of two clusters of blocks comprising 28 flats in total. The heavy charcoal grey northern and eastern facades appear as an elegant contrast to the light glass facades to the south and west. The selection of materials emphasises the green surroundings as the contours of the tree crowns and plants of the park are displayed on the dark facades and reflected in the light glass facades.
As a contrast to the dark facades, the balconies, terraces and combined stairwells/lift shafts feature organic wood surfaces. Solar collectors following the direction of the sun are located adjacent to the stairwells. The tower blocks are separated from each other but still appear as a consistent whole with a great variation in the position of flats, balconies and stairwells. The flats have ample daylight as a number of them have windows on three sides.
