This is a display for “Uni-ssentials by TDS,” a collection to be launched by TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO New Balance, a lifestyle brand developed by New Balance.
“Uni-ssentials by TDS" is a collection that attempts to explore the essence of gender neutrality. The apparel is available in only one standard without distinction between men’s and women’s sizes, and the size pitch is adjusted so that each item and each size can be worn at the optimum length and width.
Therefore, rather than focusing on the characteristics of individual items, I focused on the variation (size pitch) between each size, and tried to express the collection’s attempt to accommodate a variety of body shapes.
Specifically, all sizes were displayed and the size pitch was replaced with a slope to visualize the wide range of length changes. The slope follows the hemline of the jackets which has the largest size pitch in the lineup. The scaffolding materials were assembled by tilting the support columns using a flexible jack base for slope. The direction of the slope is in harmony with the public artwork (Kohei Nawa’s “White Pulse”) in the facility to the rear.
The footwear was originally made for trail (unpaved road) running shoes, so it was displayed on the slope without a horizontal surface.
