Vivian House

ARQXIOMA home studio as Architects

Placed on the outskirts of the city, in front of the municipal ecological park and bypass heading to Aguascalientes there is a big lined quarry cube -5.85mts by side-, it is a pure & key element that generates great mystery to passersby, whom are probably wondering: Who would live there? What is inside?

It is home to a research doctor at a local university that responds to the need to live with her family; she wanted to experience and maintain maximum privacy, as it does not know whether they were or not inside of their home. It is hard to imagine that in there can be found: living room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, patio and garden of ¡65 m2!

People who has had the opportunity go inside the house has said that despite the tight facade and the size of the land, there is no deficiency in lighting and ventilation, quite the contrary. In addition there is a feeling of spaciousness, with a very comfortable sensation despite the scale of the place.

The floor is also a core element that characterizes the house as it is a very traditional and characteristic of the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco. A handmade tile -cement and pigments based-, 2 ways compatible parts were chosen to form a large "carpet"; the solution was ideal, as it responds to the proportion of each space to align the patterns as they seem blurring from the living room to the service yard.

The house colors are based on the orange, green, white and gray, these were assigned on the basis that are favorites to the client, in addition to the color line represents freshness, joy and peace at the same time according to color psychology. These are tones that convey pleasure and natural comfort.

The natural stone grid surrounding the large cube also carries a pattern with the effect of "launched squares” that comprise the accommodation was not arbitrarily because it is a spiral that grows from the center. From 3pm makes the effect of having extruded cubes, due to the relief shadows. The same approach is seen in the smithy entry door and garage.

The vegetation, particularly the case of cacti, known locally as "organos" were found within a couple of miles from the house, bought from a farmer in a village where they grow wild.
