Zero Energy Home (Weiss Residence)

JGMA as Architects

The Weiss Residence is a custom home designed as an instructive model for the Serosun Farms sustainable residential community, informing new home owners of the benefits of sustainable technologies. It sets the precedent for all homes being designed within the development by being the first to have a zero net energy consumption and a zero carbon emission footprint.. The design takes advantage of dominant winds for cross-ventilation and cooling and abundant southern exposure for solar energy, hot water and heating. Designed for a live-work capacity, the house conceptually is broken down into components of working and living or public and private, respectively; public working spaces are dominant on the street side, while the private living spaces are reserved for the back of the site, capturing the most expansive views of the surrounding landscape.
