I am Nancy Surby, principal of NAKO Design; a self-appointed insanely passionate creative who loves design. It is a lifestyle for me. One that cures my cravings for challenge, connection, and creation. And, one that fuses my love of travel. Each new voyage, landscape, and culture inspires my style and evolves my design approach.
Because of this, I have no one particular style. But rather, I gravitate towards authentic and raw spaces. I strive to design environments that are unique to my clients and reflective of their personalities. To achieve this, no matter the size of project, I encourage discussion of lifestyle, value, and connection.
And, with open communication also comes collaboration. Each project is approached with the team in mind; from builders and architects, to the trades and makers. By trusting in each of them and the expertise they bring to the project, we can innovate and challenge conventional design.
I currently reside in Canmore, Alberta with my carpenter husband Karl.
