This project was designed to embrace the natural landscape that existed prior to our commencement of the design process. We left all vegetation intact, and created a unique V shaped design that hugs the heavy forested north side of the lot.
Stepping off from the unique shape of the home, we then capped the building with an even more unique roofline which transposes itself to the interior of the home, full vaulted ceilings clad in birch panelling to enhance the comfort of living in a glass box.
Expansive windows, and doors connect the entire main floor living space to a partially covered, and partially open patio that overlooks the spectacular 7 acres these clients are lucky to call home.Following the grading of the lot, we tucked the bedrooms up 8 steps towards the rear of the land, creating a quiet zone tucked closer into the tree line - again without disturbing any existing vegetation. Each of the three bedrooms, and both bathrooms have spectacular windows strategically placed to embrace the outdoors and make it feel almost as if you're camping.
Charred shou sugi ban siding in combination with a hight of natural stone, and standing seam metal roofing, all darker toned, clad this building and allow it to stand out quietly in the forest. A piece of art, now a home lived in by 4.
