The renovation project for this apartment located in the neighborhood of Santa Cecília in São Paulo seeks to enlarge the living spaces and improve the natural lighting through the remodeling of the original floorplan. The demolitions allowed in first place to articulate the living area with the kitchen and pantry creating the possibility to integrate the view of the street with the end of the site so that the apartment will be flooded by the sunlight from the sunrise till the sunset.

The two original bedrooms turned into one generous suite with a closet and an office connected to the living room creating an open living space free of hallways and an honest relation with the view of the trees from the street. The kitchen and the pantry areas were substantially modified in order to create a new space for meals in contact with the external and sunlight.

Finally a small guest room and the laundry was kept and received steel and glass partitions to reinforce the clarity of the apartment, letting the natural light to cross the room and fill the kitchen with light. The materials used, on the one hand, refers back to the old São Paulo small buildings, such as the parquet floor and the ceramic tile coverings. And, on the other hand, seek to bring greater comfort and ease of maintenance, such as porcelain tiles and epoxy paint in the bathrooms.
