The drafting of the project for the new Campomaggi store in c.so Como in Milan starts from the love for the space of sculpture, the art laboratory in which the synthesis between raw nature and artifice is manifested. In the construction of the exhibition space it was decided to use Vicenza stone, intentionally chosen among the most fragile, and specially roughened, to be able to accommodate breaks and imperfections intended to build an unpredictable and unique image.
The glare of light, softened by the intertwining of the agave floor, enhances the fossil and mineral aspect of the stone elements placed in the centre of the room, which, suggesting themselves as rough blocks awaiting processing, give life to the product on display, in a play of contrasts. On the long wall on the right, a walnut shelving is inhabited by the numerous pieces on display, also designed in reference to the simple and dusty shelves of the artisan workshops.
A small sitting room, hidden from the view of passers-by, is revealed in the second room of the shop, where there is a site-specific work of art on brass foil, painted by the artist Pietro Spoto. It is the ideal place to stop and chat during the purchase, dilating time to the comfort of customers, in a quiet place that takes on a perceptible and living value.
