The development consists of one 4-storey low block on a linear 10 metres high podium, and two high blocks of 12-storeys. The high-low block disposition avoids the blockage of view from the nearby Wylie Court and fulfils the height restrictions under re-zoning conditions. The two high blocks are separated by a central stepping landscape that allows better ventilation and natural lighting to the internal spaces.
Tranquil and leisured open spaces are formed within the Phase 8 development for students’ and public’s enjoyment excluded from the surrounding busy traffic. These spaces will be ideal for public interaction and gathering within the Campus.
The high block massing captures the picturesque vistas and magnificent view over Hung Hom, and serves as a new representing icon for the Hong Kong Polytechnic University on the northern end of the campus. The orthogonal layout forming courtyards responds to the existing University Main Campus. The façade with design languages and materials with the state-of-the-art technology corresponds to the image of the existing Campus and also highlights the specific identity for engineering and construction departments.
