A modern house for a couple and their family looking to slow down on Long Beach Island.  Sited on a particularly narrow stretch of the barrier island, the house takes full advantage of the lot’s unique positioning to maximize expansive views towards both the bay and the ocean. Situated on a large, private lot with wooded areas and water views called for a home that would embrace the land. In our Modern European home, we wanted to capture the beautiful views of the setting. Architecturally, the sequence and the volume changes of the individual spaces make it more interesting as you approach the house and walk through it. The resulting Modern European home, with a nod to traditional English Tudor homes, does just that. Riverview sits on a one-acre site in the heart of Toronto’s Hoggs Hollow neighbourhood, and it did not come without its challenges. The main issue was how to access this immense property. The frontage of the lot is just 23 feet and considering 50% of this would be taken over by the driveway, where was FrankFranco to put the garage? If the studio was to put the garage, as most people do, at the front of the home, it would dramatically compromise both curb appeal and the streetscape. Nestled in Kleinburg, a suburb outside of Toronto, is the aptly named Artistview. This home offers sublime sightlines and access to the surrounding nature, such as the Humber River escarpment. It is also a stone’s throw from the McMichael Canadian Art Gallery, an actively acquiring institution. The home’s location aligns perfectly with the homeowner, an art dealer with a sizeable collection of Canadian art. It is an isolated single-family home and swimming pool, designed by the architect Jaime Salvá, the technical architect Iñaki Fernández, and Blanc i Blanc as builder. It is located in the urbanization of Sa Torre, Llucmajor, on a 994 m2 plot. Maurizio Fuertes The housing budget was tight, so it was decided to generate a volumetric interest in the volumes of the façade, which optimized the size of the holes to reduce costs. The geometry of the house adapts to the interior function and helps to achieve the treatment of sunlight, so that it benefits the interior lighting of the house, and at the same time this volumetry takes care of privacy with the neighbors.
