Vaulted House (Renovation)

The home located in the suburbs of New Orleans had a low ceiling that provided its exterior (and interior) with an aesthetic (and proportion) that was familiar to other mid-century homes built in this region but lacked many of the components that often distinguish these homes as remarkable works of Architecture such as an open floor plan, vaulted spaces (strategically juxtaposed to the low ceilings), and unexpected elements of surprise.  Instead, the home favored functionality and formality in keeping with the regional client expectations of that time. Many distinct enclosed rooms with expected functions such as study, playroom, small and large formal dining room, sunroom, etc. strongly established a predetermined circulation path.... Mais

Guilherme Pucci Guilherme Pucci   Nas salas de estar e jantar, o design flui com integração. Tongu Saryo

Background This is a project to renovate part of the building of Maruyasu Chagyo, a tea wholesaler for more than 150 years in Tsuchiyama, which prospered as a post town on the Tokaido Highway, facing the Suzuka Pass, as a tea dormitory and a roasting house. The project started with the aim of creating a “place” where people can casually enjoy tea and communicate the appeal of Japanese tea for the sustainable development of tea culture and the local tea industry in the midst of declining household consumption of Japanese tea. Kazuoki Yasugi Kazuoki Yasugi Themes We aimed to create a state of harmony between the time-honored and the new, a state of nostalgia with a sense of novelty, so that local residents who used t... Boerostraat

As with many Dutch Housing Commissioned apartments, there used to be a separate bathroom with an adjacent toilet in this Amsterdam Oost house. The challenge was to unite both spaces into one, fitting all the regular elements into a compact space, as well as carve out enough room to make space for a new bathtub. Our client asked for a minimalist approach with earthen, neutral tones and we responded by choosing beton cire for the walls in sahara color, paired with small format Mosa tiles from their scene collection – earthy and irregular. We then designed the custom-made sink cabinet in massive oak and used the same materials and construction for the bigger cabinet around the wc in order to create a unified outlook and provide extra b... Pontiac Residence (The metal ridge house)

Résidence Pontiac is located in the dense residential landscape of Plateau Mont-Royal, a few steps from the bustle of rue Saint-Denis and rue Mont-Royal. A sector that has in its essence the pleasure of living in the city. Maxime Brouillet Rue Pontiac is a small, narrow street, mainly made up of duplexes, whose cramped lots and the density of the built environment invite both a social life, but also the introversion of a personal and family life. The project therefore aimed to respectfully maintain the close link between private, personal and interior life with the exterior excitement of the extraordinary neighborhood life of this little haven of the Plateau Mont-Royal. Transformation of Sourper & Panda – Groupe Office Building

The design scope of this project is 5F, 6F and the roof of a six-story office building in Qingpu, Shanghai. How to produce spatial interaction among two floors and the roof having no vertical connection is the design objective of this transformation project. Our strategy is to remove one piece of floor-slab of 6F and a piece of roof situated aside to obtain a double-height hall and a courtyard on 6F, which builds vertical connection for spaces from 5F, 6F to the roof floor that is designed as a garden. The courtyard inserted on 6F provides view, which can be shared by the hall on 5F, the corridor and the meeting room on 6F. Kokyu Kyoto

The owner of a contemporary art gallery and hair salon in Kyoto asked me to plan the interior of a new gallery and spa in Teramachi Nijo area. In a quiet area dotted with coffee shops and galleries and lined with many residences, one of the challenges was how to create an open space while maintaining a sense of connection with the local community. Therefore, the gallery on the first floor was not intended to be a neutral space like a white cube, but rather a space that makes use of the context of the existing Kyomachiya. Takeshi Asano Takeshi Asano Takeshi Asano First, on the first floor, only the ceiling and floor are used as pipe space, creating a contrast between old and new, symbolically surfacing the multiplicity of tim... CoCo Cha Taiwan Tea & Coffee – White Lantern

CoCo Cha Taiwan Tea & Coffee – White Lantern is an architectural renovation project, with the current status of a low-budget garden cafe. The main problem here needs attention, is to put a new design into the old architectural appearance, for the two to harmonize with each other, as well as minimize the cost of renovation. Nguyen Thinh Nguyen Thinh The project is located in the new urban area of Phan Rang city, right at the corner of the main road and receives almost direct sunlight from the West. Therefore, in order to ensure the elements both get light as well as get a direct view to the outside, but still have to prevent the heat from the sun, PTARCH Studio decided to design a space that is both solid and hollow. Paris - Apartment renovation in Barcelona

This 90 m² apartment in Barcelona’s Eixample district is home to Bernat, an architect and co-founder of SIGLA Studio, his partner Liliana, and their dog, Hachi. Built in 1925, its location in the heart of the city has greatly influenced the renovation, guiding the designers to respect the building’s historical elements. The apartment reflects the essence of classic Eixample architecture, with high ceilings, interconnected spaces, and construction techniques typical of early 20th-century Barcelona. The traditional structure, composed of load-bearing walls, wooden beams, and Catalan ceramic vaults, has been preserved and reintegrated throughout. Apartment in the heart of Athens

Constantine Bouras Studio designed the renovation of an apartment in the heart of Athens, aiming to preserve the charming atmosphere of the existing decorative elements of the interiors, while converting the original floor plan into a more flexible space which responds to contemporary living needs. Valentina Vagena Caption The main entrance hall of the apartment had no direct sunlight and was too wide as a corridor, but too narrow for any other use. At the same time, the adjacent narrow kitchen was not adequate for the new user of the apartment. In the new reconfiguration, the kitchen got connected to the main hall, creating a unified space as a centrepiece of everyday living. What used to be just a service kitchen, not fulfillin... Mais
