Maria Mingallon

Maria Mingallon is a chartered structural engineer with a degree in architecture. Her main research interests are focused in complex geometries, emergent technologies, form finding and biomimicry.

She graduated in 2005 in Civil Engineering in Spain at UCLM and obtained a scholarship to complete her studies at Imperial College.

She has worked at Arup since graduating as a Structural Engineer. Among other projects, she has designed two footbridges leading to the Aquatics Centre by Zaha Hadid Architects at the London 2012 Olympic Park.

In 2008 Arup sponsored her master degree in Emergent Technologies and Design at the Architectural Association from which she graduated with Distinction.

She has taught at the Architectural Association as a visiting tutor. She is currently teaching the courses ‘Advanced Construction’ and ‘Community Design Workshop’ to the professional MArch class at McGill School of Architecture where she was recently awarded the ‘Gerald Sheff Visiting Professorship in Architecture’.

She is also part of the reviewing committee for the Symposium in Simulation for Architecture and Urban Design (SimAud).
