Art Statement by Architect Peter Stasek:  After locations in Berlin and Munich, the fifth comedy club in Germany is now being built in Mannheim, initiated by the well-known comedian Dennis Boyette. The location chosen is a 350 sqm exhibition hall in the Mannheim port area, which was planned 10 years ago by architect Peter Stasek. This villa is located in a town with a history of over 40 years, where most of the buildings were traditionally single-story. The previous building on this site was also single-story and was valued by its owner for its close connection between the interior spaces and the courtyard, as well as its human-scale proportions suitable for those in the garden. These two features were the most important factors in the design of the new building. The key challenges for this project lied in adapting the existing fabric with the contemporary addition towards the rear. This residence is designed for a couple and their child. The site is situated in a residential area carved into the mid-slope of a mountain. The eastern side of the site faces a cliff, offering distant views of the mountains and a panoramic vista of the town below. It is also located in a region with a close-knit community. Given the client's desire to leverage the site’s natural surroundings, the design was focused on creating a building that allows for enjoying the views while fostering positive relationships with the neighbors. The double room 70 sq.m. apartment is situated on the principal floor of the building and from the large window of the living room captures entirely in a symmetrical fashion and which ultimately acts as witness to the environment in which it is located.
