The house is set in a hill, just below the crest, overlooking a lake. The entry drive meanders through a hardwood forest and up the hill, approaching the house from the south. The first glimpse of the house is offered near the top of the drive, revealing the combined carport/entry and the service end of the main house volume. This project is based on the reform of an existing house in Petrer (Alicante, Spain), a construction of 86m2. The idea is to maximise space by connecting rooms. The building is implanted on one of the last plots of the Brabois technopole, in Nancy's suburbs. This typical 80s business park is exceptional in the sense that it is located in the middle of a forest of deciduous trees, through which runs the A330 motorway. The main objective of the project was converting a single storey barn shape structure which previously used as an indoor tennis court to a place of worship. The existing building was seriously deteriorated over the years and the major renovation was required both on the exterior and the interior space. The existing building was built with simple steel ‘A’ frame with concrete block wall and metal roofing.
