NIMKAT CAFE

NIMKAT Cafe designed by considering cafe as a Hang Out and developing the form of Bench as an iconic image of the hang out. Lack of space was our main challenge, and the project seeks to use architectural design to maximize the space to fit many more benches. Thus, by forming a secondary shell we made a Special Diagram that divides the café into two parts. A section of the shell forms the benches and other section provides circulation area, possible for extra infill.  At the end, we covered one face of this cubic form with a reflective surface to make a virtual image of the Special Structure on the other side and to complete our Diagram. Jiunvfeng Study

It comes from Lao Zi’s Tao Te Ching that “major principles are simple”. “Less is more” in the architectural philosophy of western modernism and the minimalism pursued by contemporary Japanese architects have actually been embodied as early as thousands of years ago in China. In the ancient Chinese idea, architecture can even get rid of any medium and reach the extreme lightness without its existence. Jiunvfeng Study is located in Daiyue District, Tai’an City, adjacent to the Shenlong Grand Canyon, with Mount Tai, the top of the five sacred mountains, in the east. It is surrounded by mountains, full of rocks like flocks of sheep, with the broad vision of overlooking the gorge and gully and looking out mou... More

TOS Technical High School

ARCHITECTURE / IDEA AND CONCEPT This project is a conversion of unused industrial halls from the 1970s, situated in the premises of the TOS Varnsdorf engineering plant, into a new training centre - secondary vocational school. Students are placed in an inspiring environment close to the actual practice in the TOS Varnsdorf engineering plant. The concept of the project is based on the installation of a new structure into an existing double-hall - individual blocks of new functions defining new spaces are insert... More

Renovation of a coffe bar in Vevey

The Theater street in Vevey has been home to a coffee bar at number 3 for over 50 years. Over the years, the place has lost some of its splendour, and the original materials have gradually been covered by successive layers, at the whim of the various managers. In order to restore the authenticity of these premises, the first stage of the work was to discover the different surfaces, revealing a magnificent oak grain parquet. Based on this discovery, the other materials ensure that the existing heritage is highlighted, while giving the space a more contemporary character through the use of wavy eternit and black recomposed marble marquina. Its space is divided into two main and at the same time interpenetrating zones: intimate and daily.   The first one includes a bedroom, a bathroom and a wardrobe, the second one embraces a living room, a kitchen, a dining room as well as an entry zone together with a toilet and an utility room. Mobile walls in the form of sliding doors allow the user to configure private and public spaces depending on his/hers changing needs.   The apartment is defined by muted colours that create a background for particular elements of the interior. The atmosphere of the apartment is completed by an ashen floor as well as the blue, pink, white and green... More
