Exchanges between people, their flows, generate powerful images, which, in architecture, can be incorporated into the quest to avoid heaviness. A metaphorical evocation of archived, dematerialized data, i.e. “cloud computing,” is the final stage, through the A11 building’s skin, which erases its limits. Based on a quest for a powerful identity and an effort to weave important links with the city, this new development stage of the Zac Paris Rive Gauche is designed to complete an urban repurposing initiated almost 20 years ago. The main strength of the area chosen for the creation of the Technogym Village is its position not far from the A14 motorway, Cesena exit. Since the building facade looks onto the motorway, these facilities will enjoy great visibility and will become a reference point for car drivers; furthermore, the mobility of the company’s vehicles will thus be facilitated. The "Technogym Village” that gathers other office buildings, the Wellness Centre and the laboratories of the R&D group, looks onto the park. TNT has commissioned the development of the most sustainable building in Europe: TNT GREEN Office. Architect Paul de Ruiter is responsible for the design of the Green Office. The design, characterized by sustainability, transparency and connectivity, is the very first step to challenging the highest aspirations for sustainable development. Not only is the building completely CO2 neutral, the design also achieves more than 1000 points under the Dutch green building certification GreenCalc+ and has been awarded a US LEED Platinum design certificate.
