UI043

The 101,51 square-meter minimalistic style flat in grey shades is for active progressive young city dwellers who would love to escape from the hustle and bustle and value their comfort. Due to the glass partitions, reflective surfaces and huge windows, there is a feeling of even a greater space, and the absence of extra features and a variety of shades enables you to truly take mind of things. Meanwhile, the premises have been designed with enough room for a huge walk-in closet, and the stylish functional kitchen has become a wonderful place to welcome guests.   Photographer: Andrey Bezuglov More

UI042/2

The guest house has been designed in minimalistic style allowing you to focus on the major aspects: in the afternoon owing to the floor-to-ceiling windows one can observe the abundance of the nature colours, and in the evening you are free to spend time in front of the fireplace. All the textures and colours are combined in harmony and deliver a sense of appeasement as well as direct proximity to the nature. There is an bedroom with en suite bathroom upstairs. The floor lamps and sconces on the second floor attract your attention and aptly match the general quiet and minimalistic interior. The first floor houses a sauna, which is definitely going to be to any guest's liking. Architect: Maxim Obertas Photographer: Andrey Bezuglov More

UI042

The purpose of this project was to accommodate a big family in one single house with a decent level of comfort and style. The house on the banks of the Kyiv Sea, which is now owned by a young couple with children as well as their parents, is notionally divided into two parts and has been designed in the following styles - loft, chalet, classic and Provence. The design concordantly combines wood and cement, luxurious floor-to-ceiling windows, minimalistic style furniture, unusual features, elaborate design and a functional component. Lux Astralis

Lux Astralis  is an exclusive, high-end tequilla bar based on the typical 25’x100’ lot size in New York City.  Inspired by the infinity rooms by artist Yayoi Kusama, the ceiling, walls and floors of the main bar area are clad in mirror and black marble, reflecting the soft light of the Bocci pendants.  Featuring a long bar of glowing backlit onyx and small tables, divided by elegant brass dividers, guests are welcomed to sample their tequilla in this glamorous, celestial atmosphere.   Past the main bar area, the lounge provides an alternative drinking environment.  Equipped with low red velvet sofas, David Hicks inspired patterns, and a 19th century fantasy-scape mural offers a visual, imaginative... XYZ House

Wengen, SwitzerlandThe horizon is the line that emphasizes the infinite- Victor HugoSitting majestically high in the Alps, the cruciform like assemblage contains three bold architectural volumes clad in corten steel. Conceptually the project is organized by three mutually perpendicular planes (the three Cartesian coordinates of x, y, and z): An entry tunnel/bridge, a tower which contains the vertical circulation (staircase and elevator) and the main habitable space, which is suspended weightlessly above the valley below. In essence, this is a dwelling meaningfully stripped of all nostalgia from the material world. One is immediately reminded of the great German romantic poets and painters like Caspar David Friedrich and the poet Heinrich He... More

Bond Street Loft - Noho New York

This NoHo apartment, in a landmarked circa 1870 building designed by Stephen Decatur Hatch and converted to lofts in 1987, had been interestingly renovated by a rock musician before being purchased by a young hedge fund manager and his gallery director girlfriend. Naturally, the couple brought to the project their collection of painting, photography and sculpture, mostly by young emerging artists (Eddie Martinez, Aaron Curry, Adam Pendelton and Sam Curry, Jung Lee). Axis Mundi accommodated these pieces within a neutral palette accented with occasional flashes of bright color that referenced the various artworks. Major furniture pieces – a sectional in the library, a 12-foot-long dining table–along with a rich blend of textures such as leath... More

W Residence

This is a 150㎡ apartment in Taiwan with a strip of horizontal window looking out to the city.  The new owner is a three-generation family. The elder favors grandeur, lush marble and rich wood grain; the young couple prefers bright space, light color and relaxing atmosphere.  The only common they have is that they need storage and wish to have as much space as possible for children to move freely. We create a neutral background with white ceiling and light wooden floor in which stone and wood-veneer blocks are placed.  These blocks are positioned to define space without separate it and serve as storage unit.  Sliding-doors and movable-walls convert the space, and hide away secret balcony or chamber in each room.... Mask House

The Mask House is a two-storey dwelling that grounds its presence by embracing juxtapositional qualities in order to set an example for its neighbourhood which is undergoing a rapid gentrification. Located at the Roncesvalles Village, in the west end of Toronto, the project was designed and built respecting the narrow elongated trapezoidal site, the limited budget, the very restricted Zoning & By-laws, and of course a demanding brief from the client. Yet, the outcome brings vivid energy, inspires renewal, and suggests possibilities that design can offer.   The façade may challenge the viewer to speculate a direct relation between manners of the exterior and the interior, assuming alikeness of aesthetics with ethics in rega...
