Maison M

Camille Hermand Architectures 建築家 として

Contemporary wooden tomette tiles and weathered ceilings contrast the elegant lines of the walls and give new life to the original parquet flooring. With atelier-style glass partitions giving depth and light to this large Parisian interiors concept store, which has recently opened on the rive-gauche. «Maison M», founded by a former lifestyle editor, Caroline Tossan-Covillard, opens its doors in the seventh arrondissement of Paris, a stone’s throw from the prestigious «Place des Invalides». Designed by Camille Hermand Architectures to resemble the pages of a magazine (a wink to Tossan-Covillard’s days as an editor). The store and its façade are styled and coordinated so that each collection (office accessories, the bookstore, kitchen utensils, soft furnishings...) compliments the next, like the turning pages of a magazine.

The window, its front cover, is dressed seasonally with the help of a geometrically variable podium, made up of several cubes of different sizes. Laid flat they can play stage to a full set of living room furniture, built up into a pyramid they can play host to a multitude of home accessories. Camille Hermand Architectures successfully juggles classic Parisian chic with contemporary design codes to create a space that breaths new life into the rive gauche.
