Detached Single Family Houses at Bom Sucesso

Contemporânea as Architects

Close to the beaches of the "Oeste" (west) Region, by the Óbidos Lagoon and served by an enormous golf course, Bom Sucesso will above all be a resort intended for holiday and weekend homes.

In the sense of fleeing from more recent experiments, in which an inexplicable temptation for the "smooth Portuguese" style has triumphed, this development has invested in a modern expression, presenting only two restrictions, them being already a formal programme: the houses, of a single storey, should have flat gardened roofs and vegetal separation walls. With an "L" shape being the easiest way to group the 200 or 250 sq. m. That the two types of lot would support, and bearing in mind the individuality and privacy underlying this type of initiative, we understood that we should "fuse", in a circular periphery, a comfortable and cohesive articulation of the various probable programmatic questions.

The regulatory flat roofs served us as a departure point for localization of the swimming pool in the houses closest to the view over the Lagoon. The terrace, with access from the central patio, includes a small solarium and a tank that in covering a "music room". Will light it zenithally, by means of small skylights that day and night will display the wavy motion of the water.

Very concentrated, therefore, as of the egocentric circular forms in which they are inscribed, the houses will stand on the ground in such a way that the various visual alignments escape through the neighbouring buildings, freeing around them all the remaining open space.
