This site located on the northern of Guangzh city in China, next to the District Government of Huadu and Huadu Plaza, is area with approximately 7.5 ha. East-west and south side is bordered on the road. The south road as Quyingbin Ave is the main street of this city, and it show the aspect of Huadu. Inside this site is almost flat without any noticeable difference in height.


This building is a cultural complex consists of 3 main functions: a cultural center with a theater seating up to 500, a convention with digital cinemas and a large exhibition space, and the Youth palace. Every approach to each function is placed underground, near the subway station and it will be the main circulation to enter this building. About the plan zoning, consider of the priority functions of culture centre, conference and exhibition space are planning in the south area, it becomes the main façade and volume of this building face to Quyingbin Ave. The Youth palace is located in the north area, gather with the cultural center become another façade and volume for the west side of this site next to the District Government of Huadu. In section, main spaces are arranged continuously on upper main floors of this building (3,4F). This way of zoning makes every function has its own entrance become possible. Upper floors float upon and open the under space being an open space to the public. This continuously open volume also provided a new symbol for the city.


This seamless volume is derived from a single sectional profile that meets functional requirements both in plan and in section. This method, while achieving a changing appearance of the building façade, achieves highly precise construction and standardization of structure through prefabrication.
