Crisp opened its third barber shop in the Village on Ontario Street in Montreal, Canada. Although the space was formerly used as a hair salon only, Ivy Studio revamped the 750sqft store to give it a fresh visual identity.

The shop’s longitudinal side opens to the street front via large white windows, displaying the activities within to the outside. As opposed to the black and white colour palette of the previous store, the new design provides a dual-tone palette focusing on the barber stations.

Light cream walls and ceiling induce a soothing and inviting environment. Natural oak wood flooring complements the walls, establishing visual coherence. Painted in dark teal marmorino plaster, the stations take centre stage in the design. Additionally, the handmade finish and heavy textures induce a sense of depth and richness to the space. To highlight the individuality of each station, sleek columns and steel shelves adorned with mirrors are incorporated into the design.

A custom-made bench and service counter crafted by artisan Joey Di Venosa adds to the uniqueness of the design. With the use of varnished two-tone micro-cement as the base material topped with a sleek cream-coloured steel sheet as the seating surface, the bench enhances the visual appeal.

Although small in scale, the design offers a minimal and clean look, offering the users a relaxed and comfortable experience.
