Taps are typically subtle elements with finishes paired to match other fixtures within residential bathrooms - shower heads, toilet paper dispensers, door handles. Designers of taps often pursue the subtraction of lines to display well-formed volumes, clean fixations and easily controlled handles or rotational spouts.
Taps typically come in one of three fixation types - wall mounted, counter mounted or basin mounted - though a fourth type, the electronic and ‘hands free’ model, is also becoming a market mainstay.
Taps are curved for ergonomics and to optimize flow, dimensioned for water to fall within recessed or countertop basins of various sizes, and feature spouts angled at or about 90 degrees. Spouts commonly take a cylindrical form of 25 to 35mm in diameter. Products are offered with single or dual handles and thermostatic mixers to control water temperature and volume.
